It is important for us to know what really happened when Adam fell into sin so we can really appreciate what Jesus did in providing Salvation for us. This will enable us all to praise and worship The Lord, giving Him the worship that is due to Him.

God told Adam and Eve:

‘But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.’ Genesis 2:17 KJV.

The Devil deceived Eve and said otherwise, but immediately after they ate of the fruit they died, both spiritually and physically. In the spirit realm they died and from then became separated from God their Creator. They no longer could stand in His presence. To be honest with you if God allowed everyone to be admitted to heaven in our fallen state, it will be the most uncomfortable situation for them, because the holiness of God will make Him totally unapproachable to the unsaved man. When God touched down on Mount Sinai, the children of Israel could not stand before Him and they told Moses to meet him alone and then to tell them whatever He says.

David said in Psalms:

‘Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.’ Psalm 1:5 KJV

So Adam died immediately they sinned. The death in the spirit was immediate as we have seen. In the physical what happened is like going on the motorway at 70 miles per hour and then cutting off the ignition.  The vehicle will still continue moving but will eventually stop. That’s what happened. Physical death set in, but its final manifestation was many years later.

When God created man He gave him dominion over everything and every creature.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:28 KJV

So complete was man’s dominion that nothing on earth happens without the influence of man.

The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s : but the earth hath he given to the children of men. Psalm 115:16 KJV

But in disobeying God and obeying the Devil, they gave that dominion, authority and power to the Devil, and the Devil knew it. He said it when tempting The Lord Jesus:

And the devil said unto him, all this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. Luke 4:6 KJV

Jesus did not contest it, but defeated him with the word of God.

God cursed the ground because of Adam’s sin

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is  the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also rudely and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;  In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art , and unto dust shalt thou return. Genesis 3:17-19 KJV

So the ground could no longer yield its full strength.

Paul said

‘For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.’ Romans 8:22 KJV

Adam must have felt the difference between being inside the Garden of Eden and being outside it!

God loved man so much. But because a woman was a major part of surrendering the dominion to the Devil, a man, born of a woman must be instrumental in restoring that dominion. That man must be sinless, and overcome the devil on every front, he must also die and shed his blood to make atonement for man’s sin because ‘without the shedding of blood there is no remission (forgiveness)’ Hebrews 9.22.

Because God loved mankind so much, He immediately spoke our Salvation into being by promising that a child of the woman will one day be born who will defeat the Devil and restore mankind to relationship with Him, shed his blood for forgiveness of sin, abolish death, and restore immortality to man! This man must be sinless, and overcome the Devil on every count.

No human being born of Adam can do this, therefore God decided to come Himself, become a human being, be born of a woman so He can be of the seed of the woman (and not of Adam).

After the fall of Adam and Eve, God immediately instituted blood sacrifice using the blood of bulls and goats. He shed the first blood when He made animal skin to cloth Adam and Eve. And when the children of Israel were chosen to be the instrument through which the Saviour would come, He immediately instructed them to make altars and perform blood sacrifices. These sacrifices will only cover man’s sin, but in God’s patience and mercy, He accepted that and waited for 4000 years between Adam and Christ, for the full reconciliation of man.

So ‘the Word became flesh and dwelt among us; and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten Son of God. Full of grace and truth. HalleluJah.’

Jesus came and defeated the Devil on every front. If he failed on any of the counts He could not be our Saviour, but Jesus did not fail us. He defeated the devil, abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light ….

…Our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel 2 Timothy 1:10 KJV.

…. who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. 1 Timothy 6:15-16 KJV

This is why we should praise Him continuously and we shall praise Him forever and ever, because He gave His life and shed His precious blood to be the propitiation for our sins. Praise The Lord.

This is what Paul said about Him:

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 KJV

We love and worship You Jesus. You are our Saviour, Emancipator, Redeemer and Friend. Blessed be Your Holy Name from this time forth and forever more. Amen and a resounding AMEN.
